OpenAI Ads Manager and ChatGPT Ads campaign measurement with Adjust

ChatGPT has become one of the world's largest discovery platforms. Now, with the launch of ChatGPT Ads, part of OpenAI Ads Manager, marketers can run advertising campaigns directly within ChatGPT, creating a new channel for user acquisition (UA).

As advertisers begin testing this channel, measurement becomes critical. ChatGPT may be a new advertising environment, but marketers still need answers to familiar questions. Which campaigns are driving installs? Which users are converting after downloading an app? How does performance compare—or interact—with the rest of the media mix? How do campaigns need to be optimized to ensure ROI positive results and business outcomes? 

Today, Adjust is announcing support for OpenAI Ads Manager. With Adjust, advertisers can connect campaign activity in ChatGPT Ads with installs and post-install events, giving a clearer view of performance enabling measurement of metrics including impressions, clicks, spend, CTR, CPC, CPM, and more.

OpenAI Ads Manager, ChatGPT Ads, and Adjust

Adjust’s support for OpenAI Ads Manager gives advertisers a way to measure app activity from ChatGPT Ads campaigns and report conversion events back to OpenAI, the same as you would for any other partner you’re integrated with. 

Once you’ve created a ChatGPT Ads account, the rest of the setup is handled in Adjust. Advertisers configure the OpenAI Ads module, enter their OpenAI credentials, and choose which Adjust events should be mapped to OpenAI conversion events. Adjust then provides URL templates for clicks and impressions that can be used as campaign targets in OpenAI Ads Manager, including campaign structure, deeplinks, and fallback destinations where required.

When a campaign is live, users click Adjust URLs from ChatGPT ads and install and/or open the app. From first open onward, Adjust can report conversion events, purchases, and other relevant activity to OpenAI through the Conversions API.

To configure the OpenAI Ads module in Adjust, advertisers need to:

  • Select Partners under Campaign Lab
  • Select New partner > ChatGPT Ads
  • Choose the relevant app
  • Enter their OpenAI API key (you can generate this in your OpenAI Ads Manager account) and Pixel ID
  • Map Adjust events to OpenAI events
  • Use the Adjust URL templates as campaign targets in OpenAI Ads Manager

Once those steps are complete, Adjust can measure app activity from OpenAI Ads Manager campaigns and send mapped conversion events to OpenAI. Adjust will invoke relevant Advertiser APIs on the advertiser’s behalf, including ad spend data collection, bid/budget controls via rules, creative uploads, and more.

Bringing ChatGPT campaigns into app measurement

OpenAI Ads Manager and ChatGPT Ads create a new way for advertisers to reach (often very high-intent) users inside ChatGPT. Adjust’s support helps make that activity measurable and data-driven from the start.
